SARAH VAUGHAN - Live at Laren Jazz Festival - 1975
Meet one of the most beautiful voices of jazz music, Sarah Vaughan, reborn with an unreleased concert unlike any other. Funny, provoking, seducing. An intimate moment of rare emotional power.

SARAH VAUGHAN, VOCALS I CARL SCHROEDER, PIANO I JIMMY COBB, DRUMS

In the seventies Singer Concert Hall was the centre of an International Jazz Festival that was organized by Dutch and Belgian broadcast companies. Great performances took place with artists like Phil Woods, Slide Hampton, Johnny Griffin, Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie and Carmen McRae.

On August 9, 1975 the concert by ‘divine’ Sarah Vaughan concluded the third edition of the Festival and was directly broadcasted by radio and TV. Sarah and her trio (with Jimmy Cobb who still played on Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue on drums) were the highlight of the four-day event.

Newspaper comments were cheering. “Despite the tropical heat in the Singer concert hall Sarah Vaughan did not skimp her performance. She regaled her audience with her peerless jazz interpretations and ballads, and it would be difficult to determine what Sarah Vaughan cannot do. Her voice still has the flexibility, range and warmth of twenty years ago and her great stage personality was evident not only by her singing but also by the often witty changes in the texts and announcements in which she joked about the steamy heat and her heavily perspiring face. This was Sarah Vaughan at her best.”

LACQUER:

AN EXCEPTIONAL COLLECTION LIMITED TO ONLY 30 SETS PER ALBUM
Vector of absolute emotions, the lacquer is a truly fascinating object of which only a few craftsmen master the cutting. Thanks to its physical properties, it is possible to cut all the finest details and textures of a recording.

Yet, the lacquers are never usually listened to since they are only used in the vinyl manufacturing process to create the pressing die.

A ONE TIME LISTENING FOR THE MOST INTENSE EMOTIONS

Crafted out of aluminium and coated with a soft nitrocellulose lacquer, heavier and wider than a vinyl (14” instead of 12”) with a hypnotizing deep blue edge, the lacquer wears off as it is listened to.

Just like tasting a great wine or living the pure experience of a live concert, listening to a lacquer is a fleeting chance that can only be lived once.

The sublime and ephemeral alliance of music and craftsmanship.

Few people in the world have had the chance to listen to this unique medium. With The Lost Recordings collection, we offer you the opportunity to live and share this intense emotional experience.

Exceptional artists have been the fuel that has fired us, every step of the way. The extreme beauty of the lacquer medium required a case just as superlative. That’s why we entrusted its design to some of the world’s greatest leather craftsmen. Philippe Atienza and Pierre Gerber were those to add the finishing touches to a legend.

Handcrafted from the finest leathers used to make luxurious custom-made leather goods, each case created is a unique gem sealed by the iconic Devialet emblem.
