| Dynavector XX-2 MKII | |
The DV XX-2 MKII retains the benefit of the flux damper but features the Alinco-5 magnet and the similar rigid construction to the Te Kaitora Rua. Alnico magnets exhibit high magnetic flux density combining with a low coercive therefore magnetic resistance is lower than other magnetic types such as rare earth and ferrite, providing the exceptional stability of the XX-2 MKII output voltage. There is also the additional advantage of low magnetic and electrical resistance contributing to a discernable improvement in sound quality. |

An analog LP played back with an MC cartridge can sound exceptionally good. Yet, it is a surprising fact that the design of conventional MCs restricts the sound quality that can be achieved from LPs. An essential factor for proper operation of an MC cartridge is the angle between the magnetic circuit, signal coils and core. Performance is optimal when the angles are all aligned, but any significant difference in the angles will cause the formation of a strong and directional flux that will flow constantly from the magnetic circuit into the signal core. This directional magnetic flux will orient the core toward a specific direction and make it impossible for the core to move with equal ease in all directions, which is necessary for proper cartridge performance. |
| Koetsu Jade Moving Coil Cartridge | |
As with all the Platinum series of Koetsu cartridges, it uses a set of very tightly matched Platinum-alloy magnets. The body of the cartridge is carved out of a solid block of Jade. For such delicate work, Koetsu Japan specially commissioned a craftsman to handle the task. The final design was chosen after assessing many prototypes. Koetsu |

The similarities however, stop there. The body of the Platinum model is made from aged Rosewood which gives it a darker color tone. The greatest difference though, is inside. The coils of the Pro IV are made of 6N copper wire, painstakingly clad with a silver jacket. The magnets are made of the proprietary (and very expensive) Platinum alloy which accounts for the higher price. |
| Koetsu Urushi Vermillion | |
The Gold (Wajima) finish encrusts the whole cartridge body with gold flakes and is the most difficult to produce. The Black (Tsugaru) starts with a base piano-black finish and has bands of gold speckle along its sides. The Vermillion is finished in a less striking reddish lacquer colour. The Urushi cartridges are probably the most striking in the whole Koetsu lineup because it encompasses the traditional art of Japanese lacquerware in the production of the cartridge body. Even without reproducing music, the Urushi is itself, a work of art. |

The latest variant in Koetsu's very highly regarded Urushi series, the Urushi Sky Blue uses an Alnico magnet producing a .4mv output. The coil windings are silver wire, rather than the alternate copper-and-silver wire found in the Urushi Vermillion

| Koetsu Red K Signature Moving Coil Cartridge (Rosewood) | |
The Red T and Red K Signature are very similar in construction.
Electrically, the Signature offers a more closely matched core and coil set. Cosmetically, the Standard is distinguished by a sloped base when viewed lengthwise while the Rosewood Signature is rectangular-shaped like the other Koetsu cartridges. |

For a faster resonance conduction, the aluminium body is covered with an extreme rigid and 30 micron thick ceramic layer. The clearaudio patented construction of the MC cartridge da Vinci V2, has the lightest moving mass, due to integrated micro-gold coils, which are smaller and lighter than in a normal Moving coil construction. |
