Our brief on this project was quite simple, to enhance the quality of life of the owners of this renovation development. When considering the various features and facilities to include our client said that being discrete, cost effective, easy to use, cutting edge value for money were the most important factors.
To meet these high demands we turned to the SpeakerCraft MZC66 Multiroom AV controller as the heart of the system. It can control up to six rooms with not just audio, but video sources as well. Any of which can be played independently in any room at any time. Attached to the MZC66 control center are two Sky boxes, a Sony DAB tuner and an Imerge music server. A discretely mounted bespoke stainless steel iPod docking station also forms part of the system that can be found in the center of the Hallway. This not only enables the home owner a convenient place to store and charge their iPod but also visiting guests share their favourite music throughout the whole house without having to disturb the clients music library.
The client was keen to enter into the world of High Definition so the use of full HD LCD screens to complement the SKY HD was a must. In the Lounge we needed to supply that extra wow factor with the use of home cinema equipment that not only sounded good but looked in keeping with the modern minimalist room. For the amplification and speakers we turned to Audica and their AVR-1 DVD receiver and System 2 speaker package combination. This way we could keep a very high quality of sound but still be as discrete as possible with the technology. Full independent control of all the functions offered by the entertainment system is via the Speakercraft Mode wall-mounted LCD keypad in each room or by remote handsets.
As the property is in the Jet Set area of Poole it was important that fun and family life could sit happily side by side so the client was extremely happy with the ‘party mode’ were music can be shared between selected rooms such as the lounge, dining room and kitchen, but avoiding the bedrooms where children might be asleep all by the touch of a button. When it is time to unwind our client can then retire to the master en-suite with private balcony accessed by double glass doors which give an unhindered view over the landscaped rear garden thanks to a ceiling mounted TV screen and in-ceiling SpeakerCraft speakers. These clever little, purposely designed speakers spread the sound out across the room with their patented WavePlane design and angled tweeters which mean they can suit almost any rooms arrangements.
