The machined aluminium ring just slides over the existing 33 RPM Capstan. Linn recommend using an old drive belt for the 45 RPM adaptor to avoid stretching your 33 RPM belt or to purchase a second belt.

Drive Belts are used on all Pro-Ject turntables as the method by which the turntable platter rotates. In many cases the belt turns a sub-platter, which sits underneath the main platter - like with the multi-award winning Debut record player. However, there are also other turntables that use a belt which reaches around the perimeter of the main platter itself - avoiding the need for a sub-platter. All Pro-Ject drive belts are made of the highest quality materials, and are optimised to work with certain turntables from the Pro-Ject range.

The use of a felt mat helps ensure a smooth and mobile base for a record placed on the turntable platter. Often called a slip mat, their design is simply to sit under the record and on top of the platter. As well as felt mats, Pro-Ject also make a Cork Mat and a Leather Mat, which offer an upgraded performance compared to the felt designs.
