Apart from a couple of exceptions, every product that the Chord Company produces is designed, assembled and tested at the company's facility, in the heart of Wiltshire. The Company was started in 1986 to produce and sell the Chord Chrysalis interconnect range. Never was a product so aptly named. From this, The Chord Companys outstanding range of interconnect cables has emerged and grown. The product line-up has evolved naturally but always with reference to existing Chord cables. This makes the Chord interconnect and speaker cable range remarkably consistent. The essential balance of performance characteristics is maintained throughout the range. The concept that speaker cables and interconnects can change and improve the performance of a hi-fi or home cinema system can be difficult to understand. Our answer to this is to ignore the words, ignore the hype and simply listen to the product. We carry demonstration stock and invite customers to try the cables for themselves.

The GroundARAY is a next-generation high-frequency-noise-reduction device that connects to unused sockets on hi-fi and/or audiovisual equipment providing a low-impedance route for HF noise to pass through, directly improving the noise floor of the ‘host’ product.
The GroundARAY is a cylindrical design made from precision CNC-machined thick-walled aluminium; the thick walls themselves stop the device from contributing HF noise. Available in multiple termination options, including USB A, RCA, DIN, XLR, BNC, RJ45, HDMI, for a wide range of digital and analogue devices, the GroundARAY benefits from five separate noise-reduction systems, all working across different HF noise ranges and operating in parallel to convert undesirable HF electrical noise into heat.

Chord have now refined the effective gauge of the silver-plated copper conductors and upgaded the insulation to a high-speed PE/LDPE/PE composite dielectric. The earth shielding connection is further protected from high frequency noise with its own foil tape layer.
Chord's first venture into USB cables was a consequence of having musicians (incl some in bands) working at the Chord Company. After copying a CD master recording to a laptop, they were shocked at the poor performance of the burned copies when compared to the original master CD.

Signature XL speaker cable
Signature XL is the latest version of one of our longest running (and universally loved) products. The original Signature was our first high-frequency shielded speaker cable (2004) and marked a massive leap in speaker cable performance.
It was also the biggest, stiffest, brightest cable we’d ever made. The conductors were oxygen free copper, the insulation was gas foamed Polyethylene, Shielding was a three layer braid and foil combination, effective to high frequencies and the outer jacket a flexible polyethylene. It was just flexible enough to fit into a system. It didn’t need a press release or a review, it took off so fast by word of mouth, that for a while there was almost a permanent waiting list.

Epic XL speaker cable
Epic XL combines elements of our Epic and Signature Reference/XL speaker cables. A specially chosen soft PVC internal jacket is added to correctly space the shielding and minimise mechanical noise. A high density braid and foil shield is applied to each set of conductors and this is in turn protected by a translucent outer jacket, again chosen to reduce unwanted mechanical noise. Each set of Epic XL is built to order at The Chord Company. The conductors are twisted together and clamped in place before being terminated with either banana or spade connectors. By separately shielding the positive and negative conductors of each speaker cable run, we can produce a version of Epic that sounds markedly more refined and musically coherent. It’s particularly good at carrying micro-dynamics and detail and brings great separation and definition to instruments and voices.

Chord have taken the design from the award winning C-line and upgraded all the materials to produce an outstanding value for money handmade high-performance analogue interconnect.
The Clearway interconnect uses the same ARAY conductor geometry that we first used on the Chord C-line, and we’ve upgraded all the materials, The ARAY geometry conductors are heavier gauge oxygen free copper, insulation has been upgraded to FEP and the shielding is a dual-layer counter-wound heavy gauge foil design.
