Dieter Meier, heir turned conceptual artist, joined Boris Blank to form the electronic synth group Yello in the late '70s. Combining samples and beats with Meier's deep and distinctive voice, Yello became experts in combining the suave with the eclectic.
One Second was their 5th album, released in 1987. Highlight on the album are the B-side's opener "The Rhythm Divine" which features Shirley Bassey on vocals, and "Goldrush" which had a marvelous video that got heavy rotation on the music television networks.

Original Recordings Remastered Herbert von Karajan belonged to the last generation of conductors for whom mastery of Ludwig Van Beethoven's music in general and the nine symphonies in particular was a prerequisite for admission into the pantheon of so-called "great" conductors by a high-minded musical public. Here we have his superb March 1962 staging of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67 with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, of which he was the principal conductor for 35 years. Later in his life Karajan would tell young conductors to "Throw away your first hundred Fifths!" which holds some truth considering he himself managed around 90 performances of the work in his lifetime. Yehudi Menuhin said of Karajan: "He worked his interpretations to a fine tilth, aiming at the minimum of sentimentality and the minimum of exaggeration. A recording does not bear hearing more than a few times if you can predict, not the note, but the interpreter's private twist or change or eccentricity. Karajan wanted a recording that could be heard repeatedly."

OK Computer, though, is a complicated and difficult record: an album about the way machines dehumanize people that's almost entirely un-electronic; an album by a British "new wave of new wave" band that rejects speed and hooks in favor of languorous texture and morose details; a sad and humanist record whose central moment is Thom Yorke crooning "We hope that you choke." Sluggish, understated, and hard to get a grip on, OK Computer takes a few listens to appreciate, but its entirety means more than any one song. This 2 LP vinyl edition comes presssed on 180 gram vinyl.
