Magnepan has been manufacturing innovative, world class stereo speakers for 41 years since Jim Winey, the inventor of the Magneplanar loudspeakers, first owned electrostatic loudspeakers and began the process of experimenting to design an improved electrostat. In 1969, Jim invented the Magneplanar, a thin-film magnetic equivalent to the electrostat and started the company Magnepan, a speaker based company currently manufacturing home theater system speakers. Magnepan manufactures top quality stereo and home cinema speakers. Corporate and manufacturing facilities are located in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, a small community north of the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Having outgrown its original facilities, Magnepan's current plant is over 50,000 square feet in addition to corporate and engineering offices. To date, over 200,000 pairs of Magneplanar loudspeakers have found their way into the homes of music lovers the world over.

Magneplanar MG 1.7 (MG1.7) Speakers
Once you've heard a pair of maggies, you may never go back to typical 'box speakers'. Improving on the 1.6 model that has been in production for 12 years is no easy feat, but the Magnepan team have done it with the 1.7 re-establishing its predecessors title of "Best Bargain in High-End Audio".
After a 12-year history, reaching a near-iconic standing, the Magneplanar 1.6 has been improved with value engineering. No costly tweaks of questionable sonic value. Magnepan is all about better ideas which give high-value sonic improvements that can be verified in blind-fold testing.

Magneplanar MG 20.7 Loudspeakers (MG20.7)
Magneplanar have a new flagship with the model MG 20.7. Building on the strong virtues of the models 1.7 & 3.7, this new speaker utilises the Quasi-Ribbon technology for both its bass and midrange frequency areas. Additionally and just like the 3.7 model it has a ‘True Ribbon’ driver that handles all the treble area frequencies, mak-ing this a full 3-way ribbon loudspeaker. The Model MG 20.7 is a much more substantial ribbon loudspeaker when compared to the model 3.7, this helps to increase the scale and the ulti-mate bass punch of any music played through them and with the help of the new Quasi-Ribbon technology, all the detail and subtleties available are vastly improved over the previous flagship model.

Magneplanar MG CC-5 (CC5) Centre Channel Loudspeaker
The CC5 is the result of "trickle-down" technology from Magneplanars flagship CCR center channel speaker. The CC5 employs a horizontal, curved quasi-ribbon midrange/tweeter and quasi-ribbon super-tweeter. No dynamic woofers are employed. When used with a flexible bass management system or Magneplanar Woofer, the illusion of a large Magneplanar in the center is possible for the most important speaker in a home theater system.

Magneplanar MG 3.7 Loudspeaker
The first question on everyone's mind - "How is the 3.7 different?"
It is easier to start with what is the same. The frame and cosmetics are the same, with one important difference - the additional option of aluminum trim. The 3.7 is a 3-way design, like the 3.6, but, it is a full-range ribbon design, like the highly acclaimed 1.7. We are calling it "trickle-up" technology. The concepts that worked so well in the 1.7 were incorporated in the 3.7.

Magneplanar MG CC-3 Centre Channel Loudspeaker
The Magneplanar CC3 employs a horizontal, curved quasi-ribbon tweeter and midrange, which makes it suitable for a number of horizontal applications. All other Maneplanar models use vertically oriented line-source ribbons, which give the best dispersion when used vertically.
Multi-channel music and home theater present a challence - where do you put 5 or more speakers -- a challenge in the "real world"? Sometimes free standing speakers or even wall mounted speakers are not an option. A very nice solution to this problem is the use of 5 CC3's. Because of it's excellent horitontal dispersion, it can be placed on or in a bookcase, or cabinet, or ceiling mounted.

Magneplanar MG 12 (MG12) Loudspeakers
World Class HighEnd Audio, on a Budget.
The MG12 is the choice of audiophiles getting started in "high end" audio, with good clean bass and a top end that has the resolving power to show off the differences between different grades of electronics.
The MG12 is a perfect example of how yesterday's high-end concepts have evolved to benefit mid-priced products. Ribbon tweeters from the past would have cost more than the entire MG12. The MG12 is a 2-way system with 369 square inches of thin-film planar bass and a 38-inch long, line source quasi ribbon tweeter.

Magneplanar MG 20.1 Loudspeakers
MG 20.1 The Finest Speaker In The World.
To the music lover, the MG20.1 is the best and most cost effective way to have the "concert experience" at home. The MG20.1 has wide dynamic range and deep bass response, but what separates the MG20.1 from all other assaults on "state-of-the-art" is resolving power.
Jonathan Valin, of Fi Magazine, said in December, 1998, Volume 3, Issue 12, "So what have we got here? A big planar speaker that throws the widest, deepest, tallest, most coherent soundfield I've heard from a hi-fi system, filled with the most naturally-sized instruments I've heard from a hi-fi system, with the sweetest, most natural timbres I've heard from a hi-fi system, the finest dynamic nuance I've heard from a hi-fi system (particularly in the treble), and the most natural illusion of instrumental "action" I've heard from a hi-fi system. What we've got here, in sum, is "realistic reproduction" in the highest sense of the phrase, in the sense I spoke of earlier, the virtual duplication of instruments and voices rather than mere analogs of certain aspects of their sound....While it's hard to call anything that costs nearly ten grand a bargain, I can tell you this; if it were my money, and I were shopping for the very best, these are the speakers I'd buy."
