Looking for a good, solid CD player? This may sound simple but is not. First there is the drive, which was often developed for PC or other multimedia uses but not optimised for CDs. Unlike the silent drive mechanism in the PD-10 AE. As one of the few genuine CD drives, it was developed especially for reliable, low-noise CD sampling and mounted in the centre of a torsion-resistant sheet steel chassis. The large-scale power supply is not off the shelf either, and neither is the converter board featuring the modern AKM-DAC 4482VT with a high-precision clock pulse: a mere ±10ppm deviation from the nominal value. Ideal prerequisites for a precisely focused, natural sound.
